Introducing Our Partnership With Solaris Research Institute

Five months ago, we started Harbor Labs to modernize the data management process in clinical studies and claw back the $25 billion wasted every year on tedious, manual processes like source data verification. Today, we're excited to announce a partnership with Solaris Research Institute, a leader in clinical studies in pain and spine intervention.

Why this matters

Today's clinical studies are drowning in manual, repetitive work. Every day, coordinators copy data from paper or electronic notes into electronic case report forms. Then, months later monitors re-check entries value by value. The process is expensive and slow, and it hasn't meaningfully changed in decades. Solaris Research Institute (SRI) has built a reputation for operational excellence, and their team immediately recognized the potential to make data capture and monitoring faster and more reliable through the Harbor platform. For us, SRI and their founding team of Drs. Krishnan Chakravarthy and Maja Green are exactly the kind of partners we built Harbor for — a team that already runs great trials but wants to go faster without sacrificing quality.

What we're doing together

Harbor will power the data capture and monitoring processes for upcoming SRI studies, starting with their studies evaluating new interventional pain therapies. Instead of manually verifying data against source documents, SRI teams will use our integrated workflows to automate key parts of data entry, audit, and review. Early pilots have already shown the potential to cut monitoring time by more than half while improving real-time visibility into study progress.

"We all recognize the pace of AI and software changing the world around us, but to be able to do it in healthcare is even more impactful. SRI in partnership with Harbor Labs will accelerate that process for clinical trials in the pain and spine field. There has been incredible innovation from the technology side, but we need to see innovation in clinical trials and data gathering which is where this partnership will succeed."

— Dr. Krishnan Chakravarthy, MD, PhD (President and Co-Founder of Solaris Research Institute)

For us, this partnership is a major step toward our mission of building the modern data backbone for clinical research. SRI's scale, domain expertise, and leadership give us a perfect proving ground to refine the platform in real-world conditions where precision, compliance, and speed all matter.

Looking ahead

As we deploy Harbor across additional study protocols, we're continuing to expand the platform's automation and data management features. These include improvements to our eCRF generation, query management, and anomaly detection features. As the industry moves towards more decentralized and patient-centric trial models, the ability to automate data collection and analysis becomes even more critical. Beyond data management, the Harbor and SRI teams are also exploring solutions to find and enroll subjects faster, modernize site-sponsor billing, and speed up database lock and data analysis.

This collaboration marks the start of a broader effort to bring automation and intelligence across all clinical operations. If you're running trials and frustrated with the time and cost of traditional data management, we'd love to hear from you.
